Learning Project on Climate Education and Student Activism for Climate Justice

Four Danish organisations, Action Aid Denmark, Oxfam Denmark, PlanBørnefonden, and The National Union of Students in Denmark (DSF) have created a learning project on Climate Education and Student Activism for Climate Justice.

Objectives

The objectives of the learning project are the following:

  • Strengthen the capacity and approach of the four Danish organisations and their Southern partners to work strategically and programmatically with climate education and climate activism.

  • Make the voice of young people’s organisations in the South considered on global scale.

Expected outcomes

The expected outcomes of the learning project are the following:

  1. Strengthened insight into student and youth-led movements and organisations.

  2. Increased knowledge and understanding of climate education and good practices.

  3. Developed/Strengthened approaches and methods for working with climate education and student activism in programmes/projects, policy work and in partnership approach.

  4. Developed/strengthened relationships and networks between all participants.

The activities carried out during the learning project are the following:

Mapping of:

  • Tools, approaches, methods, good practices

  • Organisations, alliances, networks, experts, advocates

3 webinars:

  • Introduction to the learning project (31 May 2023)

  • Climate education (27 June 2023)

  • Student activism for climate justice (30 August 2023)

2 workshops:

  • Ghana, Accra, 9-10 October 2023, 30 participants from 8 countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Denmark, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Uganda, The Gambia)

  • Lusaka, Zambia, 7-9 November 2023, 26 participants from 8 countries (Denmark, Malawi, Mozambique, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe)
