Lifelong learning means that

opportunities are ensured by participation and action learning in non-formal education, skills and community development, and engagement in organizations and networks

Positive learning environments that empower learners for social change are equally important in providing learning opportunities for children out of school, young and adult people. These learning environments include non-formal education, technical and vocational skills development, income-generation and community development activities. Using participatory learning methods such as the Gender Action Learning System or REFLECT, critical thinking through reflection and analysis is promoted and serves as a pathway to challenge and discuss harmful beliefs, gender stereotypes and systemic injustice and discrimination.

To increase the awareness of digital rights, sensitization and educational initiatives are needed for learners to become aware, critical and analytical in their consumption of information, especially on social media, and to be able to discern and dismiss fake news and radical tendencies, which are created to sow division between people.
